Our INTERVIEW with BRIAN CARNEY (voice-over artist / actor / geico commercial boss / son of Art Carney)
Mike and I talked to Brian Carney about his acting career, music career, the Honeymooners and his father Art Carney (Ed Norton / Academy Award winner for Harry & Tonto)
This is our first "in-person" interview. Brian actually came to my house for the interview and brought his fathers Academy Award, Emmy & Golden Globe with him. He also brought one of the most iconic costume items in the history of television - Ed Norton's hat! There is only one!
I've known Brian for about 10 years now and he's such a great person. We all went out to dinner after at a local Irish Pub. We had such a great time and he got to see my extensive Honeymooners collection!
Besides the audio interview you don't want to miss the 3 video segments that are on YouTube. Just search Brian Carney or Know Good Music Podcast and you'll find them. Segments are "Ravagers movie", "Harry & Tonto", "The Honeymooners". You'll see the awards and the hat along with some photos we took that day.

We talk to Francesca about her first single "My Runaway", her favorite band KISS, what it's like performing in front of an audience, what's she's been working on lately and more!
*************
About Francesca:
Francesca Tarantino is a singer, musician, and actress
Francesca was introduced to the guitar by her father when she was still a toddler. Her fascination grew and soon she’d have an acoustic and then an electric all her own! Currently she’s learning how to play lead and is practicing some epic riffs. She’s even teaching her dad a few!
She has played some local gigs in and around Orlando and has participated in several open mics. She has performed on stage at Hard Rock Live Orlando, The Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts, and Tin Roof Orlando. She has also sung the National Anthem at many sporting events for her school.
She covers a wide range of artists such as: The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, KISS, and much more!
On January 6th Francesca released her first single called “My Runaway.” It’s a rock song! Even has a guitar solo! Her goal is to bring Rock music back to her generation!
The song is about being somewhere you know you shouldn’t and you have to get out of there but you’re worried about what people are going to think.
(you can hear part of this great song in the podcast and also on all streaming platforms)

Jim interviews Nashville Country Artist Chris Canterbury to talk about his newest album "Quaalude Lullabies", the songwriting process, touring, what he does besides music and more!
Chris writes from the heart and while some of his songs are not entirely auto-biographical they will pull you in with their honesty. There's not a bad song on the album and you really need to listen to Chris' music. He needs to be heard.
ABOUT CHRIS CANTERBURY'S new album
"When I sat down to write this project, I tried to present each topic as a straight-forward Saturday morning kitchen conversation. That’s how I approach songwriting and it’s worked for me for a long time” says Chris Canterbury, a Louisiana native singer-songwriter, now based in Nashville.
The project Canterbury is talking about is Quaalude Lullabies, a nine track collection of mostly sad songs that offers on-the-nose lyrical phrasing, subtlety loose production, and an honest insight into razor-edge topics like addiction, depression, and loneliness.
In what started as a thought experiment, Quaalude Lullabies was self-produced by Canterbury, his first opportunity to be on both sides of the control room window. “I wanted to woodshop a record together that felt like Nebraska,” says Canterbury. “I wanted it to be loose like a box of bedroom demo tapes, but cohesive enough to stand on its own. I feel like we ended up with a solid album.”

Mike and I had a great time talking to Bill Summers (who was in Herbie Hancock's band The Headhunters)! We talk about various drums, his first meeting with Herbie Hancock, and the famous sound Bill created for one of the best known Jazz songs ever ... called Watermelon Man... Bill even demonstrates for us how the sound was created.
About Bill:During the 1990s, Summers played with Los Hombres Calientes along with co-leader of the group, trumpeter Irvin Mayfield and Jason Marsalis. However, Summers has a much longer musical career, often working behind the scenes on film scores for various movies such as The Color Purple and the television miniseries Roots with Quincy Jones. He also played with Herbie Hancock during The Headhunters years, and is mentioned in passing by the liner notes of The Headhunters' 2003 release Evolution Revolution as contributing to that recording.
Check out the Headhunters newest album (sections of 4 of the new songs can be heard on our podcast)THE HEADHUNTERS - Speakers in the House released in November 2022:
Speakers In The House is the legendary jazz-funk ensemble's first new album in 11 years. Co-lead by percussionist Bill Summers and drummer Mike Clark with support from NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison on alto saxophone, The Headhunters latest studio effort arrives just in time to celebrate this American music institution's 50th anniversary in 2023, having formed around Herbie Hancock's classic recording, Head Hunters, in 1973. An eight-track set available on Ropeadope Records, highlights from Speakers In The House include the New Orleans' second-line grooves of "Rocking At The Mole House," the world music-influenced jazz-fusion of "Kongo Square" and a modern post-bop re-imagination of the classic Headhunters' composition "Actual Proof," first released on their 1974 album, Thrust. Joining Summers, Clark and Harrison for the recording are keyboardist Stephen Gordon and bassist Reggie Washington plus special guests Jerry Z on organ, One Drop aka Scott Roberts on drums, Fode Sissoko on Kora and Ashlin Parker on trumpet.
