Jim and Mike talk to Kurt about the Gripweeds latest contribution to "JEM RECORDS CELEBRATES PETE TOWNSEND" which comes out on August 5th. We also talk about some bands he's working with currently, House of Vibes Recording Studio, and more!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE GRIP WEEDS:
Critics, while praising The Grip Weeds, often try to pigeonhole them with the “Power Pop” label. This is a bit of a misnomer. While there are plenty of driving, poppy melodies, chiming guitars and close harmonies, The Grip Weeds’ releases have sported many different styles of original material, from Psychedelic and Garage Rock to Folk-based ballads and thought-provoking social commentary. This diversity has landed several Grip Weeds songs on the top of the Little Steven’s Underground Garage "Coolest Song In The World” list, as well as placed Grip Weeds music in several television and film projects. Their reputation as a top shelf live band has brought them to venues across the United States, and internationally, including the South By Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas, Liverpool, England’s legendary Cavern Club, and several tours of Europe, among others.
Family ties are strong in The Grip Weeds, as singer/drummer Kurt Reil is joined by his wife Kristin Pinell Reil and brother Rick Reil, both singer/ guitarists: Kurt’s drum style at times seems manic and driving, yet with a keen sense of timekeeping; Kristin’s growling, aggressive lead guitar lines are laced with style, emotion and impressive technique; Rick adds his own distinctive guitar and songwriting talents, and the family trio also spearheads the recording and production of The Grip Weeds’ music. Bassist Dave DeSantis has held down bass duties for a number of top New Jersey bands before settling in with The Grip Weeds since 2012. All four Grip Weeds sing, and their group vocals have been acclaimed as one of the most distinctive and natural close harmonic blends working today.
COPYRIGHT CLAIM: The Grip Weeds renditions of the songs : No Time Like The Right Time, Strawberry Fields Forever, Lies and Going All The Way used with permission from Kurt Reil.

Jim and Mike talk to Laurence Juber about his newest album (Select Blends), what "finger-style" guitar is, his time as a member of Paul McCartney's WINGS, (my favorite WINGS album) BACK TO THE EGG, Martin Guitar & more!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT LAURENCE JUBER (LJ)
GRAMMY® winning guitarist Laurence Juber is a solo performer, recording artist, composer and arranger. His playing fuses folk, jazz, blues, pop and classical styles, creating a multi-faceted performance that belies the use of only one instrument.
A music graduate of London’s Goldsmith’s College, he was featured guitar soloist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before becoming established as a studio musician in the mid-1970’s. First internationally recognized as lead guitarist in Beatle Paul McCartney’s Wings, with whom he won a Grammy, Juber has since established himself as world-renowned guitar virtuoso and entertainer.
Known to his fans as LJ, he has recorded more than two dozen albums spotlighting his unique touch and tone on acoustic guitar. His latest release is Select Blends, a ‘virtually’ live album pulled from his over 250 livestream performances during Covid lockdown.
His LJ Plays The Beatles was voted one of Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s all-time Top Ten albums. His solo arrangement of The Pink Panther Theme earned him a second Grammy, while his arrangement of Stand By Me was heard nationally in a Diamonds Are Forever commercial. Juber’s DVD-Audio project Guitar Noir (AIX Records) won a CES Demmy award for best audio.
Juber has 4 guitar folios in print. The latest, The Evolution of Fingerstyle Guitar was published by Hal Leonard in January 2019. His ‘photo memoir’ Guitar With Wings was recently published by Dalton Watson Fine Books.
As a studio musician, he can be heard on recordings from artists as diverse as Harry Styles, Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks, Seal and the French chanteuse Sylvie Vartin, plus he is featured on the soundtracks to hundreds of TV shows such as Home Improvement and movies including the academy award-winning Dirty Dancing, Good Will Hunting and Pocahontas.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT DANA FUCHS:
Dana Fuchs is one of the most coveted blues rock stars in the world today. A singer whose hypnotic voice and presence, has led critics to compare her to Janis Joplin, Otis Redding and Mick Jagger. Dana's records receive fantastic reviews, and she has been in the top 10 on the world's most important sales list - Billboard in the USA. Dana stars as Sadie in ‘Across the Universe’, nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globe Awards. Today, Dana returns to her Southern Rock roots and her home label, Ruf Records to deliver the rawest, rockingest, musical offering of her album-making career. With this release, Borrowed Time, we are treated to a deliciously dangerous collection of incredible songs and lyrics that run the gamut from barn-burning rockers to tear-jerking ballads, and we find Dana, the singer-songwriter, at the top of her game, a master of her craft, supported by a cast of dangerous musicians who have managed to capture the tornado in a bottle intensity, urgency, power, restraint and passion of Dana's live show on a studio album. Produced by Bobby Harlow at Black River House, nestled in rural Croswell. MI, a midwestern factory town that provided the ideal setting for Dana to unleash her American roots, rock, soul. Get ready for a rockin' ride! Dana Fuchs | Borrowed Time, available everywhere via Ruf Records

MARSHALL CRENSHAW Interview / Beatlemania / The Smithereens / La Bamba / Buddy Holly
Saturday May 14, 2022
Saturday May 14, 2022
Jim and Mike talk to Marshall about being in BEATLEMANIA, the movie LA BAMBA (he played Buddy Holly), his new re-release #447, THE SMITHEREENS and alot more
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MARSHALL:
After getting an early break playing John Lennon in a touring company of the Broadway
musical Beatlemania, Crenshaw began his recording career with the now-legendary indie
single “Something’s Gonna Happen.” His growing notoriety in his adopted hometown of
New York City helped to win Crenshaw a deal with Warner Bros. Records, which released
his self-titled 1982 debut album. That collection established Crenshaw as one of the era’s
preeminent rock ’ n’ rollers, and that was confirmed by such subsequent albums as Field
Day, Downtown, Mary Jean & 9 Others, Good Evening, Life’s Too Short, Miracle of
Science, #447, What’s in the Bag? and Jaggedland.
Along the way, Crenshaw’s compositions have been covered by a broad array of
performers, including Bette Midler, Kelly Willis, Robert Gordon, Ronnie Spector, Marti
Jones and the Gin Blossoms, with whom Crenshaw co-wrote the Top 10 single “Til I Hear
It From You.” He’s also provided music for several film soundtracks, appeared in the films
La Bamba (in which he portrayed Buddy Holly) and Peggy Sue Got Married, and was
nominated for Grammy and a Golden Globe awards for writing the title track for the film
comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.
Since 2011, Crenshaw has hosted his own radio show, The Bottomless Pit, on New York’s WFUV. He’s also worked on Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger’s HBO series Vinyl, doing “some session work, a little bit of songwriting..”
Visit Marshalls website or Facebook, Instagram to find out where he's playing next!
COPYRIGHT CLAIM: The songs : Television Light, Little Wild One (No.5), Twenty-Five-Forty-One, Cynical Girl and Live & Learn used with permission from Marshall Crenshaw.

HOLLY HUTCHISON Interview - AnR Girl (Skid Row / Alanis Morissette / Blink 182 / Muse)
Wednesday Mar 16, 2022
Wednesday Mar 16, 2022
Jim and Mike talk to Holly Hutchison about being an early champion for such artists as Blink 182, Alanis Morissette, Muse and many others.
We talk about her career as an A&R person and her work with promoting and guiding new artists with her own company "AnR Girl". Believe it or not Mike, Jim and Holly all graduated from the same High School!
ABOUT HOLLY:
Holly Hutchison Weinman is a business executive with over 34 years experience in the music and entertainment industry. She is a visionary with a passion for new ideas, branding and cultivating identity.
Her professional experience, A Level Repertoire, and deal making abilities draw largely from major recording corporation environments and highly successful mentors in New York City (Atlantic Records – a Time Warner Company) and Los Angeles (Capitol Records/EMI) where she held top ranking executive positions before venturing out on her own as a well respected, detail oriented and creative business owner. As an independent she has closed deals with Jason Flom Lava/Republic, Doug Morris former CEO Sony Music Entertainment and more.
Holly built her credibility through a consistent track record of identifying artists who have proven to be successful – some being Skid Row, Deftones, Alanis Morissette, Blink 182, Slipknot, Muse, Saliva, Bosson and Vega 4.
In Fall 2016, Holly took on management of the multi-platinum hard rock group SALIVA. She has enjoyed a long standing friendship with the group after being a first champion of SALIVA in 1998 while she was an A&R Executive at Capitol Records and the band were looking for a major label home. Unfortunately, Capitol Records did not sign SALIVA but the rockers went on to have a successful career at Island Records under music experts Rob Stevenson, Jeff Fenster and Lyor Cohen. Holly would remain a friend, business ally and mentor over the course of the next 18 years. In the two years of management, she doubled the group’s gross income, released an independent single that has accumulated over 14 million streams through her marketing and landed Saliva a deal with Megaforce/Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment.
The recording studio is a second home to Holly. She has extensive A&R experience that covers all aspects of album production and song selection for pop, rock and rap genres. She has worked with top multi platinum and Grammy award winning producers, mixers and songwriters such as Timbaland, Bob Marlette (Shinedown, Red Sun Rising), Jimmy Douglas, Peter Mokran, Ron Aniello, Josh Abraham, Al Sutton (Greta Van Fleet, Kid Rock), Michael Brauer (Coldplay), Dave Way (Christina Aguilera), Diane Warren, Billy Steinberg, Monty Powell (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts), Jack Kugell, Kirsti Manna (“Austin” Blake Shelton) and Steve Kipner, just to name a few.
